“Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
We often confuse commandments with priorities. We will say that our children, spouses, church, God, etc… are priorities. But if we say that, then we are wrong! These things aren’t “priorities”. These things aren’t to be put on a list of what comes first in our lives. These things are direct COMMANDS from God!
It’s easy to “disobey” a priority. We can make light of not doing a priority by saying something like “Today my priority is _______” and then we go on day to day thinking of what comes first, second, third, etc…. But we need to realize that spending time with God, in church, with our family, in family worship, etc… these are all COMMANDS!! We cannot decide what comes first, and how we want to “fit” them into our lives. We are to do them and that’s it!
Are you simply making God, Church, your family, etc.. a priority in your life? Or are you OBEYING what God has commanded you to do??
