“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Timothy 3:16

(i) Teaching: What does this passage (verse, chapter, book) teach(about God and his character, man and his sin, Christ and his work, the ministry of the Spirit, the Christian life, the purposes of God, the fellowship of the church, the need of the world)?
How do you study God’s Word? Do you just read through it just to get it over with? Do you take notes? Do you cross-reference the verses?
God gave us His Word as a means of teaching us what He calls us to do and how we are to live. But how can we be taught if we are just reading His Word to get it over with? You may be thinking to yourself, “how can I ask myself all of those questions about each verse… it would take all day!” But no one ever told you had to read a chapter at a time.
Why not start taking each verse and ask yourself the above questions. Cross reference the verse. Try to understand what the verse is trying to teach you.
Studying God’s word DOES require time. It’s not something that is just going to come to you without even studying it.
You need to pray that God will reveal His truth through His word and pray for understanding. Take time in reading His Word, even if it is only one verse at a time.
