“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
Yet another verse that I hear so often twisted around. Where does this verse say “my God shall supply all my wants according to my own will”? It doesn’t say that now does it? Then why do we often believe that it does!?
There are 2 very important points that we can get from this verse. 1) God shall supply all your NEEDS and 2)according to HIS riches in glory
1) God shall supply all your NEEDS. This often differs from what we think we need. And I am sure you all know what I am talking about. There are many times that we think we “need” something, but then when we don’t get it we begin to blame God and get upset with Him. But later on we often find out that our “need” wasn’t really a true need at all, but just a “want”. God is faithful in doing what He said He would do — supply all your NEEDS… not your wants. Yes, He often gives us what our heart desires, but He’s not obligated to do so if it thwarts His will for our lives. He has the right to answer the way He wants to — yes, no, or wait.
2)according to HIS riches in glory. This is not according to OUR own will, but according to God’s will. He gives us what we need according what He knows we need. He gives us what we need according what He knows will benefit us. He gives us what we need according what He knows will be good for us — whether it be something we think is good, or something that will work together for our own good. It gets down to this…. HE KNOWS WHAT WE NEED!
Are you trusting in God to provide for all of your needs according to His perfect will? Do you blame God when He doesn’t give you what you think you need? How do you show God and others that You accept whatever His will is for your life?
