“The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” – Psalms 138:8
I find that doing the will of God leaves me with no time for disputing about His plans. — George MacDonald
The above verse was Biblegateway’s verse of the day. And the above quote was Heartlight’s “quotemeal” of the day. Ironic that they both would go hand-in-hand!!
What concerns you?
What is your “plan” in life?
We often make our own plans. Set our own goals. Things we want to achieve. But what happens when we DON’T reach those goals? What happens when we DON’T meet the target?
It’s important to have plans and goals. And it’s important to turn to God to help us achieve those goals. But how do you respond when you fail to meet your “goal”?
Some of us may sit back and wonder why things went wrong. And we may analyze everything and try to figure out how WE failed. But maybe you didn’t fail. Maybe you did reach your goal – the goal that GOD has set out for you.
My father had plans to take care of his wife for many more years. He had plans to continue to help out in his church (doing things that other people thought were beneath them). He had plans to be a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren. All of these weren’t selfish. All of these plans weren’t self-seeking. All of these plans weren’t vain or worldy. But all of these plans were simply not what God had planned. My father planned to live for many more years, however, God’s plan was to bring Him home. It may not have been my father’s “goal” to die so young, but it was God’s plan!
Should I sit back and blame my father for dying? Should I write about how he failed and didn’t do what he had planned. Should my Mom be angry with him for not taking care of her. I don’t think anyone would expect us to be mad at him or think of him as a failure because he died. And the same is true with each of us when even our best Godly plans fail. God’s plan WILL be accomplished!! And we should NEVER feel like a failure when our Godly plans don’t come about.
Read this very carefully:
When our main concern is doing the will of God, we can rest assured that God will do what concerns us!!
Our main goal should be to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. That is our purpose. And when we live our lives striving to meet that goal, then we are NEVER failures. When our concern is God’s Will, we are doing exactly what He wants of us.
It’s time we stop thinking about the outcome of our goal, but rather think about the purpose of our goal!
So let us glorify God and enjoy Him forever!!
