This morning we found out that some of the vans/cars in our development were broken into – including our own. Nothing was taken from the van, except for my pink “Bible bag” that had “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good” on the front of it. My husband found my Bible, Coffee Mom’s Devotional Book, and the other stuff in my bag dumped out on the sidewalk. My bag, however, was no where to be found. (We did find out that it was confiscated so they will bring it by to me later).

Obviously they thought my Bible bag was a purse. So they didn’t find money inside. They didn’t find a wallet. No, they found something much more precious – God’s Word. The very thing they needed the most they dumped out on the sidewalk like it was trash!!!

As Christians, God’s Word should be more important than money, credit cards, automobiles, etc… It should be valued higher than anything else in this world! But yet we are often like these “thieves”. God’s Word often gets tossed to the ground and trampled on like it was a piece of trash.

My pastor had a great message on Sunday. And one thing He said is (paraphrasing)… if you put anything above God in your life, you are committing adultery! You are cheating on God!

The image of cheating on God really got to me. And the image of these thieves throwing my Bible on the ground is sticking in my head too! How dare they do that!? How dare I do that!?!?!?!?

So what does God’s Word mean to you? I am thankful that my Bible wasn’t ruined. I’m thankful to have it back. I’m thankful that I had it to begin with! But I’m even more thankful that God has taught me this lesson today – to appreciate and value His Word!

May we all value God’s Word above all else and teach others to do the same!
