As I type this, I’m watching the “The Message” music station on TV. The song playing is “Voice of Truth”. The line that is sticking out to me today is…

“Out of all the voices calling out to me…”

What “voices” are calling out to you? What things influence what you believe, feel, think, do, say, etc….?

We live in an age where “information” is so easily obtained. No matter what we are looking for, we can find an answer or some input on the topic at hand. We don’t even have to be our at computer to get info since we can use our cell phones! So no matter where we’re at or what we’re doing, someone or something is always there to give their opinion on what we should believe.

The information will always be available. We can’t change that. And gathering information is not a bad thing. However, we have to make a decision – whether we believe or listen to that info! You have the choice to “listen and believe”!

From the very beginning, man has struggled with wanting “knowledge”. Eve wanted to be like God and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And we know how that turned out! It wasn’t enough that Eve got the most accurate and most perfect information available. She was told by God Himself specific instructions – what to eat… what not to eat… what will happen if they ate what they weren’t supposed to, etc….

They had knowledge. God’s perfect knowledge given to them. But then a another “voice” called out to Eve. Trying to influence her decision. Trying to get her to do something that was not beneficial. Trying to deceive. And ultimately trying to kill her physically and spiritually.

Eve didn’t listen to the VOICE OF TRUTH. She listened to the “other voice calling out to her”. Not only did she listen to that voice, but she shared it with her husband! Ever get an urban legend emailed to you from a friend that turns out to be false? Someone reads something and instead of researching it to see if it’s true, they pass it on to a friend. Then that friend passes it on, etc…. This is what happened with Eve. She listened to that “other voice” and then instead of keeping it to herself, she passed it on!

We are so quick to pass on what the “other voices” are telling us, but are we as quick to pass on what the VOICE OF TRUTH tells us???

So….. Whatcha listening to? The VOICE OF TRUTH or “another voice”?

May we all be able to sing another line of this song… “I will choose to listen and believe in the Voice of Truth”!!
