Have you ever had someone say to you “if you need anything, let me know”?

Now, if you are like me, you most likely will NOT tell them when you do need something. But then, if you are like me, you may get upset at the fact that someone didn’t offer.

So what do you do in a situation like this?

The answer is simple – Do something!!

Often times we say that standard phrase that I quoted above, but yet we may not really mean it. Or we know that the other person won’t ask anything out of us anyway, so we’re off the hook. But why do we want to be “off the hook” so badly?!

Did Christ say to people “if you need to be healed, let me know”. Or “if you need something to eat, let me know”. NO! He saw the need and did something!

If someone is sick, don’t offer to make a meal. Make a meal anyway and call them and say “I made a meal for you, when can I drop it by today?” If someone has lost a loved one and is feeling lonely, don’t offer to take them out for coffee. Call them and say “I’m at Zippy’s… what kind of coffee would you like?” (yes, I had to say Zippy’s! LOL)

We are too quick to make an empty offer, and too slow to do an act of kindness.

So I encourage you today to think of how you can help someone and DO IT. Christ didn’t wait, and neither should we!
